Meletupkan Diri Dalam Sasaran Musuh

Meletupkan diri dalam sasaran musuh kini menjadi kaedah yang semakin popular dikalangan pejuang Islam khususnya di Palestin. Penentangan bentuk baru ini telah membuahkan hasil yang memberansangkan dalam peperangan menentang musuh samada dari segi nisbah kerugian nyawa, kesan kepada ekonomi dan rancangan pendudukan Yahudi di wilayah Palestin dan di tanah yang dijajah Israel sendiri.

Ulama' Islam yang terkemuka terutamanya al Qardhawi bersama puluhan ulama' lain Antaranya Dr. Muhamad az Zuhaili, Dr. Wahbah Az Zuhaili, Dr. Siad Ramadhan Al Buthi, Dr. Abd. Kadir Rayyan dan lain-lain mengharuskan penggunaan kaedah "bom manusia" untuk memusnahkan sasaran musuh khususnya Yahudi.

Namun masih terdapat persoalan daripada sesetengah pembaca yang dihantar kepada Massej OnLine mengenai hukum jika perbuatan seumpaman itu termasuk dalam kategori "mencampakkan diri dalam kebinasaan" atau ia menyebabkan kematian orang awam yang tidak berdosa. Ada juga dikalangan pemuda yang cuba mengimplimentasikan fatwa tersebut dalam realiti lain selain dari Yahudi di Palestin.

Untuk menjelaskan kekliruan tersebut Massej On Line cuba menjelas semula beberapa perkara yang dibahaskan oleh ulama' dalam membincangkan perkara ini secara ringkas untuk manfaat pembaca.
1. Pandangan ulama' silam terhadap maksud "at tahlukah" dan kaedah mencampakkan diri dalam kumpulan musuh yang bawa kemungkinan besar pelakunya terbunuh
2. Kedua dari segi sasarannya yang mungkin melibatkan orang awam yang tidak berdosa
3. Dan sejauhmana fatwa ini boleh diumumkan kepada realiti lain kepada skop yang lebih luas selain daripada kontek pejuang Palestin lawan masyarakat Yahudi zionis.

Dalam suasana yang tidak setanding seperti di Palestin dimana Yahudi yang mendapat sokongan dan bantuan dari seluruh dunia dan pejuang Palestin yang terkepong dari semua aspek dan penjuru, perjuangan jihad pembebasan memerlukan kepada pembaruan dari segi kaedah pertembungan. Ia memerlukan wasilah baru yang menjamin kerugian yang lebih rendah dipihak Islam dan kerugian yang lebih besar dipihak musuh.

"Bom manusia" adalah wasilah terbukti canggih dan berkesan untuk menentang perancangan zionis Yahudi dalam semua aspek seperti yang saya sebutkan secara ringkas dalam mukadimah tulisan ini. Namun apakah penjelasan ulama' terhadap kesamaran-kesamaran yang dikemukakan diatas?, penulis simpulkan penjelasannya dalam perenggan-perenggan berikut.

"At tahlukah "mencampakkan diri dalam kebinasaan dan membunuh diri

Perbuatan meletupkan diri dengan bom yang dililit diseluruh badan pada lahirnya nampak sama dengan tindakan membunuh diri yang diharamkan oleh Islam, tetapi ia sebenarnya berbeza dari segi maksud dan juga dari segi kesannya.

Dorongan orang yang membunuh diri ialah kerana putus asa dan kecewa dengan takdir tuhan, sebaliknya perbuatan meletup diri dalam sasaran musuh oleh pejuang Islam bertujuan untuk menolong agama Allah dan menamkan ketakutan kedalam hati musuh. Implikasi daripada dua tujuan tersebut sangat berbeza.

Adakah ia termasuk dalam mencampakkan diri dalam kebinasaan "at tahlukah"?. Jawapannya ialah tidak. Ini merujuk kepada pentafsiran ulama' terhadap ayat 195, surah Al Baqarah. Al Jassas menyebut riwayat daripada Abi Ayub yang menjelaskan bahawa maksud perkataan "a t tahlukah" itu ialah perbuatan meninggalkan jihad kerana menjaga harta.

Adapun mencampakkan diri kedalam kumpulan musuh tidak dianggap sebagai "at tahlukah" jika ia dilakukan kerana tamakkan syahadah dan perbuatannya itu memberi kesan "nikayah" kepada kumpulan musuh seperti menyebabkan mereka takut atau menggalakkan orang lain supaya berani melakukan sepertinya. Namun jika ia tidak membawa maksud "nikayah" maka kebanyakan ulama' tidak mengharuskan perbuatan tersebut. (Lihat tafsir Jassas, Al Qurtubi al Maliki, al Razi as Syafie, Ibnu Kahir dan at Tabari, fatwa Ibnu Taimiah, As Syaukani, dan Rasyed Ridha dalam al Manar)

Mengenai pendapat As Syeikh Hassan Ayub yang mengharuskan perbuatan menenggelamkan kapal, mengebom kilang senjata musuh atau menanam bom dalam kem musuh walaupun pelakunya tahu kemungkinan ia akan terkorban bersama mereka tetapi tidak mengharuskan tindakan meletup diri dalam sasaran musuh atas alasan maksud perbuatan pertama ialah mebinasakan musuh dalam keadaan ia tahu kemungkinan ia terkonban sedangkan dalam keadaan kedua di mula letupkan dirinya dan ada kemungkinan tidak mengenai sasaran, tidak berbangkit, kerana dalam dua-dua keadaan kemungkinan itu tetap sama.

Meletupkan Diri Dalam Sasaran Yang Mungkin Mengenai Orang Awam

Antara adab peperangan dalam Islam ialah tidak membunuh orang tua, kanak-kanak dan wanita yang tidak terlibat dalam peperangan. Meletupkan diri dalam sasaran awam mungkin menyebabkan orang tidak berdosa terbunuh dan itu satu yang ditegah oleh syarak. Jika ini berlaku bagaimana ia boleh dianggap sebagai kaedah yang diterima oleh syarak dan pelakunya dianggap semulia-mulia shuhada'?

Meneliti fatwa yang mengharuskan penggunaan kaedah bom manusia khususnya dalam kes pejuang Palestin yang meletupkan diri dalam sasaran awam Yahudi, ulama' didapati telah mengkategori masyarakat Yahudi semua sekali sebagai masyarakat ketenteraan.

Kata al Qardhawi: "Masyarak Zionis adalah masyarakat ketenteraan, lelaki dan wanitanya askar dalam tentera yang boleh dikerahkan bila-bila masa. Ada pun orang tua dan kanak-kanak yang terbunuh adalah dengan cara yang tidak disengajakan dan termasuk dalam kemestian peperangan yang sukar dielakkan".

Adakah Fatwa ini umum untuk semua masyarakat atau khusus untuk masyarakat Yahudi sahaja?

Secara umum kaedah meletup diri dalam sasaran musuh boleh dipakai untuk apa-apa sasaran musuh dimana sahaja di seluruh dunia. Namun daripada kajian yang dibuat operasi "isytiyhad" atau meletupakan diri dengan bom yang dililit pada badan pada sasaran yang melibatkan "orang awam" hanya diharuskan dalam masyarakat Yahudi sahaja dan tidak harus dilakukan dalam masyarakat lain yang tidak ditakrifkan sebagai masyarakat ketenteraan.

Dengan itu diharap kita telah menjelaskan kesamaran yang timbul berkaitan dengan hukum Islam terhadap operasi berani mati atau "isytisyhad" sebagaimana yang dilakukan oleh pejuang Islam di Pelestin dan dimana sahaja di dunia ini.

Tafsir fi zilal syed Qutb Surah 104: The Slanderer - al Humazah by Abu Raudhah

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful!
Woe to every taunting slanderer and backbiter, who piles up wealth
and keeps it counting again and again, thinking that his wealth will
make him immortal. By no means! He will indeed be flung into the
crushing one. Would that you know what the crushing one is! It is
Allah's own kindled fire, which rages over men's hearts. It is
closed on them from every-side, in towering columns.

Commentary
This surah portrays one of the actual scenes in the early days of
the Islamic call. Yet this scene is a pattern which is repeated in
every environment and society. It is the scene of the vile, mean one
who is given wealth and uses it to tyrannise over others - until
even he cannot bear himself. He thinks that wealth is the supreme
value in life, the value before which all values and all standards
come toppling down. He feels that since he possesses wealth, he
controls other people's destiny without being accountable for
anything he does. He imagines that his money and his wealth is a
god, capable of everything without exception, even of resisting
death, making him immortal and stopping the judgement of Allah and
His retribution.

Deluded as he is by the power of his wealth, he counts it and takes
pleasure in counting it again and again. A wicked vanity is let
loose in his being which drives him on to mock other people's
positions and dignity, to taunt and slander them. He criticises
others with his tongue, mocks them with his movements, either by
imitating their movements and voices or by ridiculing their looks
and features - by words and mimicry, by taunts and slander.

It is a vile and debased picture, one of the pictures of human
beings devoid of the ideals of manhood and generosity and stripped
of faith. Islam despises this abject sort of people because of its
own high standards of morality. Islam emphatically forbids mockery
and ridicule and fault-finding in others. But in this case the
Qur'an describes these actions as sordid and ugly and adds warnings
and threats to anyone who indulges in them. This suggests that it is
referring to an actual case of some polytheists who have subjected
the Prophet and the believers to their taunts and slander. The reply
to these actions comes in the form of strong prohibition and fearful
warning. There are some reports which name certain people as being
the traducers meant here, but they are not authentic, so I will not
discuss them, but shall be content with what I have just stated.

The warning comes in the form of a scene of the hereafter portraying
the mental and physical sufferings and giving an image of Hell which
is both palpable and telling. It takes care to relate the crime to
the punishment inflicted and to its effect on the culprit. On the
one side there is the image of the taunting slanderer and backbiter
who is given to mocking other people and ridiculing them while he
gathers wealth thinking that he is guaranteed immortality in this
way. This image of the cynical calumniator who seeks power through
wealth is contrasted with the image of the slighted, neglected one
flung into a crushing instrument which destroys all that comes in
its way and thus crushes his structure and his pride.

The crushing instrument is "Allah's own kindled fire". Its
identification as the fire of Allah suggests that it is an
exceptional, unfamiliar sort of fire and makes it sound full of
terrors. This fire "rages" over his heart and mind from which spring
mockery and ridicule and in which lie his vanity and conceit. To
complete the image of the slighted, neglected and crushed, this fire
closes in on him from all directions and locks him in. None can save
him and none asks about him. Inside he is tied to a column, as
animals are tied, without respect.

The tone of the vocabulary used in this surah is very strong "Keeps
counting it again and again; by no means! he will indeed be flung;
rages, towering. " In the meaning of the expressions, forcefulness
is conveyed by various forms of emphasis: "He will indeed be flung
into the crushing one. Would that you knew what the crushing one is!
It is Allah's own kindled, fire". The generalisation and cryptic
_expression first, then the exclamation suggesting great horrors, and
then the clear answer - all these are forms of forceful _expression.
The style also conveys warnings: "Woe; he will be flung into, the
crushing one; Allah's kindled fire; which rages over men's hearts,
it is closed on them; in towering columns." In all this there is a
kind of harmony between imagery and feelings and the actions of
the "taunting slanderer and backbiter".

At the time of its revelation, the Qur'an was following up the
incidents faced by the Islamic call and leading it simultaneously
along its road. The Qur'an is the infallible weapon which destroys
the cunning of the conspirators, shakes the hearts of enemies, and
fills the believers with courage and steadfastness. Indeed we
recognise two significant facts in Allah's care here as He denounces
this sordid example: firstly, we are shown the ugliness of moral
decline and how people are rendered so abject. Secondly, we realise
that He defends the believers, preserves their souls against their
enemies' insults, shows them that Allah knows and hates what is
inflicted on them, and that He will punish the wrong doers. This is
enough to elevate their souls and to make them feel their position
high above any wicked designs.

Saya suka pakai tudung...hari2 saya pakai tudung.Allah pun suka kalau saya pakai tudung :)

Nilai Tudung Wanita

Di sini Darul Nu'man ingin menyentuh tentang pemakaian tudung kaum wanita masa kini sebagai renungan bagi wanita Islam. Bila wanita menjaga auratnya dari pandangan lelaki bukan muhram, bukan sahaja dia menjaga maruah dirinya, malah maruah wanita mukmin keseluruhannya. Harga diri wanita terlalu mahal. Ini kerana syariat telah menetapkan supaya wanita berpakaian longgar dengan warna yang tidak menarik serta menutup seluruh badannya dari kepala hingga ke kaki.

Kalau dibuat perbandingan dari segi harta dunia seperti intan dan berlian, ianya dibungkus dengan rapi dan disimpan pula di dalam peti besi yang berkunci. Begitu juga diumpamakan dengan wanita, Kerana wanita yang bermaruah tidak akan mempamerkan tubuh badan di khalayak umum. Mereka
masih boleh tampil di hadapan masyarakat bersesuaian dengan garisan syarak.

Wanita tidak sepatutnya mengorbankan maruah dan dirinya semata-mata untuk mengejar pangkat, darjat, nama, harta dan kemewahan dunia.

Menyentuh berkenaan pakaian wanita, alhamdulillah sekarang telah ramai wanita yang menjaga auratnya, sekurang-kurangnya dengan memakai tudung. Dapat kita saksikan di sana sini wanita mula memakai tudung. Pemakaian tudung penutup aurat sudah melanda dari peringkat bawahan hingga
kepada peringkat atasan. Samaada dari golongan pelajar-pelajar sekolah hinggalah kepada pekerja-pekerja pejabat-pejabat.

Walaupun pelbagai gaya tudung diperaga dan dipakai, namun pemakaiannya masih tidak lengkap dan sempurna. Masih lagi menampakkan batang leher, dada dan sebagainya. Ada yang memakai tudung, tetapi pada masa yang sama memakai
kain belah bawah atau berseluar ketat dan sebagainya. Pelbagai warna dan pelbagai fesyen tudung turut direka untuk wanita-wanita Islam kini.

Ada rekaan tudung yang dipakai dengan songkok di dalamnya, dihias pula dengan kerongsang (broach) yang menarik. Labuci warna-warni dijahit pula di atasnya. Dan berbagai-bagai gaya lagi yang dipaparkan dalam majalah
dan suratkhabar fesyen untuk tudung. Rekaan itu kesemuanya bukan bertujuan untuk mengelakkan fitnah, sebaliknya menambahkan fitnah ke atas wanita.

Walhal sepatutnya pakaian bagi seorang wanita mukmin itu adalah bukan sahaja menutup auratnya, malah sekaligus menutup maruahnya sebagai seorang wanita. Iaitu pakaian dan tudung yang tidak menampakkan bentuk tubuh badan
wanita, dan tidak berhias-hias yang mana akan menjadikan daya tarikan kepada lelaki bukan muhramnya. Sekaligus pakaian boleh melindungi wanita dari menjadi bahan gangguan lelaki yang tidak bertanggungjawab.

Bilamana wanita bertudung tetapi masih berhias-hias, maka terjadilah pakaian wanita Islam sekarang walaupun bertudung, tetapi semakin membesarkan riak dan bangga dalam diri. Sombong makin bertambah. Jalan mendabik dada. Terasa tudung kitalah yang paling cantik, up-to-date,
sofistikated, bergaya, ada kelas dan sebagainya. Bertudung, tapi masih ingin bergaya.

Kesimpulannya, tudung yang kita pakai tidak membuahkan rasa kehambaan. Kita tidak merasakan diri ini hina, banyak berdosa dengan Tuhan mahupun dengan manusia. Kita tidak terasa bahawa menegakkan syariat dengan bertudung
ini hanya satu amalan yang kecil yang mampu kita laksanakan. Kenapa hati mesti berbunga dan berbangga bila boleh memakai tudung?

Ada orang bertudung tetapi lalai atau tidak bersembahyang. Ada orang yang bertudung tapi masih lagi berkepit dan keluar dengan teman lelaki . Ada orang bertudung yang masih terlibat dengan pergaulan bebas. Ada orang bertudung yang masih menyentuh tangan-tangan lelaki yang bukan
muhramnya. Dan bermacam-macam lagi maksiat yang dibuat oleh orang-orang bertudung termasuk kes-kes besar seperti zina, khalwat dan sebagainya.

Jadi, nilai tudung sudah dicemari oleh orang-orang yang sebegini. Orang Islam lain yang ingin ikut jejak orang-orang bertudung pun tersekat melihat sikap orang-orang yang mencemari hukum Islam. Mereka rasakan bertudung
atau menutup aurat sama sahaja dengan tidak bertudung. Lebih baik tidak bertudung. Mereka rasa lebih bebas lagi.

Orang-orang bukan Islam pula tawar hati untuk masuk Islam kerana sikap umat Islam yang tidak menjaga kemuliaan hukum-hakam Islam. Walaupun bertudung, perangai mereka sama sahaja dengan orang-orang bukan Islam. mereka
tidak nampak perbezaan agama Islam dengan agama mereka.

Lihatlah betapa besarnya peranan tudung untuk dakwah orang lain. Selama ini kita tidak sedar diri kitalah agen bagi Islam. Kita sebenarnya pendakwah Islam. Dakwah kita bukan seperti pendakwah lain tapi hanya melalui pakaian.

Kalau kita menutup aurat, tetapi tidak terus memperbaiki diri zahir dan batin dari masa ke semasa, kitalah punca gagalnya mesej Islam untuk disampaikan. Jangan lihat orang lain. Islam itu bermula dari diri kita sendiri.

Ini tidak bermakna kalau akhlak belum boleh jadi baik tidak boleh pakai tudung. Aurat, wajib ditutup tapi dalam masa yang sama, perbaikilah kesilapan diri dari masa ke semasa. Tudung di luar tudung di dalam (hati). Buang perangai suka mengumpat, berdengki, berbangga, ego, riak dan
lain-lain penyakit hati.

Walau apapun, kewajipan bertudung tidak terlepas dari tanggungjawab setiap wanita Muslim. Samada baik atau tidak akhlak mereka, itu adalah antara mereka dengan Allah. Amat tidak wajar jika kita mengatakan si polanah
itu walaupun bertudung, namun tetap berbuat kemungkaran. Berbuat kemungkaran adalah satu dosa, manakala tidak menutup aurat dengan menutup aurat adalah satu dosa lain.

Kalau sudah mula menutup aurat, elak-elaklah diri dari suka
bertengkar. Hiasi diri dengan sifat tolak ansur. Sentiasa bermanis muka. Elakkan pergaulan bebas lelaki perempuan. Jangan lagi berjalan ke hulu ke hilir dengan teman lelaki. Serahkan pada Allah tentang jodoh. Memang Allah
sudah tetapkan jodoh masing-masing. Yakinlah pada ketentuan qada' dan qadar dari Allah.

Apabila sudah menutup aurat, cuba kita tingkatkan amalan lain. Cuba jangan tinggal sembahyang lagi terutama dalam waktu bekerja. Cuba didik diri menjadi orang yang lemah-lembut. Buang sifat kasar dan sifat suka bercakap dengan suara meninggi. Buang sikap suka mengumpat, suka mengeji dan mengata hal orang lain. jaga tertib sebagai seorang wanita. Jaga diri dan maruah sebagai wanita Islam. Barulah nampak Islam itu indah dan cantik kerana indah dan cantiknya akhlak yang menghiasi peribadi wanita muslimah.

Barulah orang terpikat untuk mengamalkan Islam. Dengan ini, orang bukan Islam akan mula hormat dan mengakui "Islam is really beautiful." Semuanya bila individu Islam itu sudah cantik peribadinya. Oleh itu wahai wanita-wanita Islam sekalian, anda mesti mengorak langkah sekarang sebagai agen pengembang agama melalui pakaian.

"Muslim-Christian Diolgue" - Part 3

M. This has been mentioned clearly several times but overlooked by Bible readers:

1. Jacob on his way to Padan-aram saw a vision and built he next morning a pillar of stones which he called Beth-El, i.e. the House of the Lord (Genesis 28: 18-19).
2. Years later the same Prophet, Jacob, was ordered by Allah to go to Beth-El (Genesis 35: 4, 14,15). Jacob removed all the strange gods prior to going there. Later also Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] removed all the idols around the sacred stone Ka’bah in Mecca.
3. Another pillar was built by Jacob and his father-in-law Laban (Genesis 31: 45-49): "And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar. And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made a heap; and they did eat there upon the heap. And Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha, but Jacob called it Gale... And Mizpah; for he said, The Lord watch between me and thee..."
4. Jephthah and Ammon had a war against each other. Jephthah swore to the Lord in Mizpeh of Gilead to sacrifice his only daughter if he won. He did win, and burnt his daughter there alive as an offering to the Lord (Judges 11: 29-39).
5. Four hundred thousand swordsmen from the eleven tribes of Israel swore before the Lord in Mizpeh to exterminate the tribes of Benjamin (Judges 20 and 21).
6. The children of Israel under Samuel swore in Mizpeh to destroy their idols if they won against the Philistines.
7. The whole nation of Israel assembled in Mizpeh when Samuel was appointed king of Israel (I Samuel 10).

It is obvious now that there is no Mizpah left in the world except the oldest one in the Holy City of Mecca built by Abraham and his son Ishmael, from whom later Prophet Muhammad arose. Muslims are really the followers of all Prophets. I can tell you other things about Muslims, Islam and Muhammad [PBUH] in the Bible, but why should you know this if you are not looking for he truth?

C. I am sure of my own belief as a Christian but I am stimulated to know more about both religions. I feel sometimes ridiculed as a Christian after reading books written by Muslims.

M. Did it affect your religious life?

C. Yes, I am going to the Church as regularly as before. I have been secretly reading books written by Muslims. I have asked several Muslims what was not clear to me, but not to my satisfaction. I am looking for a belief that I can rely on, that can give me peace of mind, scientifically acceptable, and not just believe in it blindly.

M. It should be like that. I appreciate your attitude. But we are not allowed to allure anyone. We propagate only to those who want to listen to us.

C. But I am free to choose any belief I like and nobody can stop me.

M. Yes, there is no compulsion in religion.

C. Why are Muslims calling other people to their belief, then?

M. As Christians ask the Jew to accept Jesus as the Messiah, we Muslims ask the Christians as well as Jews and all mankind to accept Muhammad [PBUH] as the Seal of the Prophets. Our Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] said: "Convey my message even one ayah (verse of the Holy Qur’an)."

Also Isaiah mentioned in chapter 21:13: "The burden upon Arabia", which means the responsibility of the Muslim Arab, of course of all Muslims now, to spread the Islam. Isaiah mentioned this after he saw in a vision a chariot of asses and a chariot of camels (21:7): "And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed."

The chariot of asses turned out to be Jesus who entered Jerusalem (John 12:14; Matthew 21:5). Who then was the chariot of camels? It could not be other than Muhammad [PBUH] who came about six hundred years after the advent of the Messiah. If this is not accepted, then this prophecy has not yet been fulfilled.

M. Yes, if you are successful in this world, it doesn't mean that you will be successful in the hereafter. The hereafter is much better and more lasting than this life. People are now becoming more materialistic and secular. Let us come together several times and discuss differences frankly and without prejudice. Islam is based on reason, and you should not just accept it. Even your Bible says, "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." (I Thessalonians 5:21).

C. You quoted just now "chariot of camels" from Isaiah and made conclusion that it was Muhammad. Is he then prophesied in Bible?

M. Sure.

C. In the Old or New Testament?

M. In both. But you cannot recognize him in the Bible as long as you don't believe in the Oneness of God. I mean as long as you still believe in the Trinity, the Divinity of Jesus, the Devine Sonship of Jesus, the Original Sin and the Atonement. All these are doctrines made by men. Jesus had prophesied (Matthew 15:9) that people will worship him uselessly and believing in doctrines made by men: "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."

"Muslim-Christian Diolgue" - Part 2

M. Can you show me where in the Bible it says that he is a Jew? If you can't find it quickly, let me help you. Read Genesis 11:31.

C. "And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran and dwelt there."

M. So Abraham who was born in Ur of Chaldees could not have been a Jew. First because Ur of Chaldees was in Mesopotamia, which is now a part of Iraq. He was then more an Arab than a Jew. Secondly the name Jew came after the existence of Judah, the great-grandson of Abraham (see Figure 1). Read further, Genesis 12:4 and 5.

C. "...and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran...and into the land of Canaan they came."

M. So Abraham emigrated to Canaan at the age of seventy-five and the Bible clearly mentioned that he was there a stranger in Genesis 17:8: "And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." Read now Genesis 14:13.

C. "And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew;"

M. How can you call Abraham a Jew if the Bible itself calls him a Hebrew which means a man from the other side of the Euphrates. It also means pertaining to Eber, a descendant of Shem. Read now in Genesis 32:28 what happened to the name of Jacob after wrestling with an angel.

C. "And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel; for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed."

M. So Abraham was a Hebrew. The descendants of Jacob were Israelites consisting of twelve tribes. Judah was nicknamed "Jew" so that only Judah's descendants were called Jew originally. To know who Moses really was, read Exodus 6:16-20.

C. "And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Ghershon, and Kohath, and Merari...And the sons of Kohath: Amr... And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses."

M. So Moses was not a Jew because he was not descended from Judah but a Levite. Moses was the "law giver" (Torah is law) to the children of Israel.

C. How can you explain that?

M. Because we are using the Holy Qur'an as standard. You can explain the Bible and correst the Jewish and Christian prejudice with the context of the Qur'an. It is the last revealed Book which has never been corrupted or adulterated. Its contents has been guaranteed by Allah in Surah 2:2: "This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt..." and also in Surah 15:9: " No doubt We have sent down the Qur'an and surely We will guard it (from corruption)." This verse is a challenge to mankind. It is a clear fact that more than fourteen hundred years have passed and not a single word of this Qur'an has been changed although disbelievers tried their utmost to change it, but they failed miserably in their efforts. As it is mentioned in this Holy Verse: "We will guard this Book," by Allah, He has guarded it.

On the contrary, all the other holy books (Torah, Psalms, Gospels, etc.) have been adulterated in the form of additions, deletions or alterations from the original.

C. What does the Qur'an say about Abraham and Moses that you can deduce it from the Bible?

M. In Surah 3:65: "O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Why do you dispute about Abraham, while the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Have you then no sense?"

And in Surah 3:67: "Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim (worshipper of none but Allah alone) and he joined none in worship with Allah."

In Surah 2:140: "Or say you that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the twelve sons of Jacob were Jews or Christians? Say (O, Muhammad),"Do you know better or does Allah (know better)?" And who is more unjust than he who conceals the testimony he has from Allah? And Allah is no unaware of what you do." Of course they were not Jews or Christians as the name Jews came after Judah and the name Christians came along after Jesus had left.

C. It feels strange to hear the name Allah. Why don't you say God if you speak English?

M. Yes, indeed, the name Allah seems to be strange to non-Muslims but this name has been used by all Prophets since Adam until Muhammad [PBUT]. It is a contraction of the two Arabic words Al-Ilah, i.e. The God. By dropping the letter "I" you will find the word Allah. According to its position in an Arabic sentence it can have the form Allah which is close to the Hebrew name of the Creator, i.e. Eloha. But the Jews are using wrongly the plural form Elohim which donates more than one God. The word Allaha sounds closer to the Aramaic word for God used by Jesus, namely Alaha (see Encyclopedia Britannica 1980 under Allah and Elohim). So while the name Allah is strange to non-Muslims, it is not strange to all Prophets from Adam to Muhammad [PBUT], as they propagated in principle the same Islam, i.e. total submission, and the word Allah denotes the personal name of the Supreme Being. It is not subject to plurality or gender, so there is no such thing as Allahs, or male or female Allah, as there is Gods or God and Goddess. It is confusing to use the word God as many English-speaking Christians still consider Jesus as God. Even the word Creator is also confusing, as many Christians still maintain that Jesus had created the world. Not only the name Allah is strange, but also the way Muslim worship Allah with ablution, bowing, kneeling, prostration and fasting is strange to non-Muslims, but not strange to all Prophets. While ablution (washing of face, arms, feet, and moistening of the hair) prior to worship is abandoned by modern Christians, it is still required by Muslims and previous Prophets, as seen in the following passages of the Bible: Exodus 40:31-32: "And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat; When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as the Lord commanded Moses." Although Paul made many changes in Jesus' teaching, he was still faithful in respect to ablution as seen in Acts 21:26: "Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temp..." Muslim women perform their prayer with their head covered as in Corinthians 11:5, 6 and 13: "But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with their head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be cover...Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?" Muslim worship with bowing, kneeling, prostration and without shoes as done by previous Prophets: Psalm 95:6: "O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker." Joshua 5:14: "And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worsh..." I Kings 16:42: "And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees." Numbers 20:6:"...and they [Moses and Aaron] fell upon their faces: and the glory of the Lord appeared upon them." Genesis 17:3: "And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, sayi..." Exodus 3:5 and Acts 7:33: "And he [God] said [to Moses], Draw not nigh higher: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground."

A Christian will shiver in hearing that Pilgrimage or Haj as is now done by Muslims by circumambulating around the sacred stone Ka'bah in Mecca, had been performed by many Prophets, even by Israelite Prophets.

C. I never read pilgrimage or sacred stone in the Bible.

Berikut adalah siri dialog antara H. M. Baagil dengan seorang Kristian tentang agama (comparative study). Alhamdulillah, akhirnya Kristian tersebut memeluk Islam berdasarkan hujah2 dan penerangan saudara H. M Baagil. Untuk pengetahuan pembaca, saudara H. M. Baagil dahulu juga adalah seorang Kristian, yang kini merupakan seorang da'i, alhamdulillah.

THE FIRST CONTACT BETWEEN A CHRISTIAN AND A MUSLIM

C. Why have there been in the last decade many discussions held between Christians and Muslims about their beliefs?

M. I think because we both have several things in common. We believe in the One Creator Who had sent many Prophets and in Jesus as the Messiah as well as the Word of God which had been denied by the Jews.

Our Holy Qur'an mentions in Surah 3:45: "[Remember] when the angels said, "O Mary! Verily Allah gives you the glad tidings of a Word from Him, his name will be Messiah Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and in the hereafter, and those who are near to Allah..."

Dialogues have been held everywhere in Europe, Canada, the USA and Australia. Even the Vatican is not spared where discussions were held between Vatican theologians and Egyptian Muslims scholars in Rome in 1970 and in Cairo in 1974 and 1978. Also between Vatican theologians and Saudi Arabian Muslims scholars in Rome in 1974. Many times in Colombo, not to mention Muslims invited by many churches to present Islam.

C. If Christianity is nearly two thousand years old and Islam more than fourteen hundred years, why were these discussions not held centuries ago?

M. For the last three to four centuries many Asian and African countries dominated by Muslims were colonized by Britain, France, Holland, Belgium, Spain and Portugal. Many Christian mission colonists tried to convert as many Muslims as they could by whatever means they had, by giving them medical treatment, clothes, food, jobs to the poor, but only a few were converted. A small part of the elite were converted to Christianity because of their prejudice that Christianity brought them to their civilization and progress of knowledge. They had a wrong notion because this progress was attained after the separation of state and church in Europe.

After the Second World War many Muslims from Asian and African countries were emigrating as workers and professionals to the Western Hemisphere, which brought them more in contact with the Christians. Also students were active in introducing Islam.

C. Do you see other reasons why many dialogues were held nowadays even by their respective missions?

M. I think the gap between both is becoming smaller as each is more tolerant, although both are still competing in getting more converts. I still remember my Christian teacher who used to say, "Muhammad the imposter, the dreamer, the epileptic." You now find fewer writers depicting Islam in such manner.

We Muslim feel closer to the Christians than to the Jews and disbelievers, as the Qur'an prophesised in Surah 5:82: "Thou will find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who believe (to be) the Jews and the idolators. And thou wilt find the nearest of them in affection to those who believe (to be) those who say, "Lo! We are Christians." This is because there are among them priests and monks (i.e. persons entirely devoted to the service of God, as were the Muslims), and because they are not proud." Some Christians denominations are making tremendous progress now by acknowledging for the first time in history that Muhammad [PBUH] descended from Ishmael through his second son Kedar. The Davis Dictionary of the Bible, 1980, sponsored by the Board of Christian Education of the Presbyterian Church in the USA, writes under the word Kedar: "...A tribe descended from Ishmael (Gen. 25:13)...The people of Kedar were Pliny's Cedrai, and from their tribe Mohammed ultimately arose." The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia quotes the following from A. S. Fulton: "...Of the Ishmaelite tribes, Kedar must have been one of the most important, and thus in later times the name came to be applied to all the wild tribes of the desert. It is through Kedar (Arab. Keidar) that Muslim genealogists trace the descent of Mohammed from Ishmael."

Also Smith's Bible Dictionary will not stay behind and prints the following: "Kedar (black). Second son of Ishmael (Gen 25:13) ...Mohammed traces his lineage to Abraham through the celebrated Koreish tribe, which sprang from Kedar. The Arabs in the Hejaz are called Beni Hard (man of war), and are Ishmaelites as of old, from their beginning. Palgrave says their language is as pure now as when the Koran was written (A.D. 610), having remained unchanged more than 1200 years; a fine proof of the permanency of Eastern Institutions."

The biggest asset brought by Muslim immigrants to the Western hemisphere is not their manpower but the Islam which is now taking root here. Many mosques and Islamic centers are established and many are reverted to Islam. I prefer the word reverted and not converted, as everybody is born in submission to Allah, i.e. Islam, this is the nature of every child born. The parents or the community convert him to Judaism, Christianity, other faiths, or atheism.

This is also a proof that Islam is not spreading by the sword but simply by propagation by individuals or groups of Muslims. We don't have special missions organized as in Christian missions.

The world population has increased 136% from 1934 through 1984, Christianity with 47% and Islam with 235%. See The Plain Truth, February 1984, in its 50 Year Anniversary issue, quoting from The World Almanac and Book of Facts 1935 and Reader’s Digest almanac and Yearbook 1983.

C. If all three religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, are claiming to emanate from the One and same Creator, why do they differ?

M. All Prophets from Adam to Muhammad [PBUT] were sent with the same message: that is, the total submission of mankind to Allah. This submission in Arabic is called Islam; Islam means also Peace, peace between the Creator and His creatures. Unlike the names Judaism and Christianity, this name Islam has been given by Allah, the Creator Himself, as mentioned in Surah 5:3: "This day I have perfected your religion for you and completed My favor on you, and have chosen for you as the way of life Al-Islam as your religion." Neither the name Judaism nor Christianity is found in the Bible, not even in a Bible dictionary. No Israelite prophet mentioned the word Judaism. Jesus never claimed to establish Christianity on earth and never called himself a Christian. The worh Christian is mentioned only three times in the New Testament and first by pagans and Jews in Antioch about 43 A.D., long after Jesus had left this earth. Read in Acts 11:26: "...And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

Later by King Agrippa II to Paul in Acts 26:28: "Then Agrippa said unto Paul Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian."

So the name Christian was first given by foes rather than friends. And finally by Peter in his letter to comfort the faithful in I Peter 4:16: "Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed..."

The first Muslim on earth is not Muhammad but Abraham who submitted totally to Allah. But Islam as a way of life had been revealed to other prophets prior to Abraham like Adam and Noah. Then Islam follows as the way of life for all humanity.

C. How could Abraham be a Muslim? He is known as a Jew!

M. A Jew? Who told you that?

C. We are taught that; it must be confirmed by the Bible, too.

Bible: Firman Tuhan atau Buatan Manusia?

NABI (TETAPI TELANJANG):

Jika yang seperti itu adalah para pendeta, Tuhan mem-berkahi jemaah tersebut
-
(a) "Setelah ia (Nuh) minum anggur, mabuklah ia, dan ia telanjang dalam kemahnya." (Injil - Kejadian 9: 21 ).

(b) "Ia (Saul) pun menanggalkan pakaiannya, dan ia pun juga kepenuhan di depan Samuel. Ia rebah terhantar dengan telanjang sepanjang hari dan malam itu. Itulah sebabnya orang berkata: Apakah juga Saul termasuk golongan Nabi? " (Injil - 1 Samuel 19: 24).

(c) "... Betapa raja orang Israel (Daud), yang menelanjangi dirinya pada hari ini di depan mata budak-budak perempuan para hambanya, merasa dirinya terhormat pada hari ini, seperti orang hina dengan tidak malu-malu menelanjangi dirinya!" (Injil - 2 Samuel 6: 20).

(d) "Berfirmanlah Tuhan: `"Seperti hambamu Yesaya berjalan telanjang dan tidak berkasut tiga tahun lamanya ¡Ä tua dan muda, telanjang dan tidak berkasut dengan pantatnya kelihatan, suatu penghinaan bagi Mesir." (Injil
-Yesaya 20: 3-4)

PERKOSAAN:
Anak laki-laki memperkosa dan berbuat zina dengan saudara perempuannya -
(a) "Tetapi Amnon (salah seorang anak Daud) tidak mau mendengarkan perkataannya (Saudara perempuannya: Tamar), dan sebab ia lebih kuat darinya, diperkosalah dia, lalu tidur (berhubungan seksual) dengan dia." (Injil - 2
Sa-muel 13: 14).

Seorang anak laki-laki berzina dan memperkosa ibu-nya!
(b) "Maka dibentangkanlah kemah bagi Absalom (anak laki-laki Daud yang lainnya) di atas Sotoh, lalu Absalom menghampiri (melakukan hubungan seksual dengan) gundik-gundik ayahnya (istilah yang sama dengan "istri", lihat
Keturah pada indeks) di depan mata seluruh Israel. "
(Injil - 2 Samuel 16: 22).

SARAH:

Kitab suci Injil bahkan tidak menghindarkan Tuhan dari fitnah hubungan haram yang ditujukan kepadanya:
Dalam kasus pembuahan Yesus Kristus, Tuhan Yang Maha Kuasa mengatur agar Maria mengandung Yesus dengan intervensi Roh Kudus, seperti dinyatakan dalam Injil:

(a) ". . . Roh Kudus akan turun (pertanyaannya adalah, bagaimana?) atasmu dan kuasa Allah Yang Maha Tinggi akan menaungi engkau (bagaimana?); ... " (Injil - Lukas 1: 35).

Sebaliknya di dalam kasus Ishak, Sarah mengandungnya dengan intervensi langsung dari Tuhan; seperti tertulis dalam kitab suci-Nya:
(b) "Tuhan mengunjungi Sarah, seperti yang difirmankan-Nya, dan Tuhan melakukan kepada Sarah seperti yang dijanjikan-Nya. Maka mengandunglah Sarah, ..... " (Injil -Kejadian 21: 1-2).

PERBUDAKAN:

Disetujui Tuhan -
"Kamu harus membagikan mereka (para budak) sebagai milik pusaka kepada anak-anakmu yang kemudian, supaya diwarisi sebagai milik; kamu harus memperbudakkan mereka untuk selama-lamanya ...." (Injil - Imamat 25: 46).

ANAK TUHAN:
Banyak kata-kata ini di dalam Injil
(a) "Anak Enos, anak Set, anak Adam, anak Allah. (Injil - Lukas 3: 38).

(b) "Maka anak-anak Allah melihat, bahwa anak-anak perempuan manusia itu cantik-cantik, lalu mereka mengambil istri dari antara perempuan-perempuan itu; siapa saja yang disukai mereka."
"... ketika anak-anak Allah menghampiri anak anak perempuan manusia, dan perempuan-perempuan itu melahirkan anak bagi mereka; inilah orang- orang
yang gagah perkasa di zaman purbakala; orang-orang yang kenamaan." (Injil - Kejadian 6: 2 dan 4).

WANITA:

Dilarang berbicara di dalam gereja -
(a) "... Sebab tidak sopan bagi perempuan untuk berbicara dalam pertemuan jemaat." (Injil- 1 Korintus 14: 34-35).

(b) "Untuk memotong tangan perempuan yang menolong suaminya." (Injil - Ulangan 25: 11-12).
(c) "Suami akan berkuasa atas istrinya." (Injil - Keja-dian 3: 16). "Pemimpin seorang perempuan adalah seorang laki-laki." (Injil - 1 Korintus 11: 3).
"Seorang laki-laki dapat menjual anak perempuannya." (Injil - Keluaran 21:7).
